Explorers Blank Apollos 10-0

May 20 2021 The Sioux City Explorers defeated the Houston Apollos 10-0 after scoring once in the second inning three times in the seventh and six times in the eighth. Sioux City finished with seven hits and eight RBI while Houston collected eight hits but was held scoreless and committed three errors.

J. Walker led the Explorers with two hits three RBI and a home run. L. Tolbert added two hits and two RBI while J. Monge and C. Clare each scored twice. S. Zawada drove in a run and scored once and C. Harris contributed a hit an RBI and two runs scored.

Sioux City pitching held Houston to eight hits two walks and no runs while striking out 16. P. Ledet worked four scoreless innings with five hits allowed and seven strikeouts before M. Quintana earned the win with two scoreless innings three strikeouts and three hits allowed. N. Gercken B. Brosher and S. Abernathy each added a scoreless inning.

Houston starter Yosmel Naranjo took the loss despite allowing only one run in five innings. The Explorers broke the game open against the Apollos bullpen with three runs in the seventh and six in the eighth to complete the shutout.
