Chicago Dogs Cruise Past Houston Apollos 13-4

July 16 2021 The Chicago Dogs defeated the Houston Apollos 13-4 behind an 18-hit attack at Impact Field. Chicago took control immediately with seven runs in the first inning, added two runs in the second and two more in the third to build an 11-0 lead. The Dogs also scored once in the sixth and once in the seventh, while Houston answered with two runs in the sixth and two in the eighth.

Riley Lidge led Chicago with three hits, two runs and one RBI, while Aaron Grier went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, one run and two RBIs. Michael Crouse added two hits, two runs and a triple, and D. Mars drove in three runs with a home run. T. Bennett also homered and finished with two RBIs. Houston collected 11 hits, including three from Blake Berry, while Yeiler Peguero and Brian Dansereau each drove in two runs.

Jake Dahlberg earned the win for Chicago after allowing seven hits and two runs over six innings. He struck out 11 and walked two. Houston starter Tucker Smith took the loss after surrendering 13 hits and 11 runs, nine earned, in three innings. The Dogs finished without an error, while Houston committed four defensive errors.
