Houston Apollos Win Slugfest Against Winnipeg Goldeyes

June 26 2021 The Houston Apollos defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 15-11 in a high-scoring game. Houston collected 15 hits while Winnipeg finished with 17, but the Apollos produced the decisive offensive surge with four runs in the fourth inning, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Jordan Pontious led Houston with three hits and three RBI. Yeiler Peguero added two hits and three RBI, while Ian Yetsko hit a home run and drove in two runs. Ramon Villa also recorded two hits and two RBI, and Blake Berry scored three runs.

Winnipeg received a four-hit performance and four RBI from T. Hill, who also hit a home run. R. Navarro went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and W. Darvill had three hits and two RBI. The Goldeyes scored five times in the fifth inning and added two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh but could not overcome Houston’s lead.

Andrew Click earned the win for Houston after pitching one scoreless inning with two hits allowed. Tucker Smith worked four innings and surrendered eight runs, seven earned, while Ryan Richardson pitched two innings and allowed three runs. Eduard Reyes took the loss for Winnipeg after allowing six runs on seven hits in four innings.
