Canaries Use Four Big Innings to Defeat Apollos

June 23 2021 The Sioux Falls Canaries scored in four innings and defeated the Houston Apollos 12-3. Sioux Falls collected 15 hits, including a two-run first inning, a three-run fourth, a three-run sixth and a two-run eighth. Houston finished with six hits and scored once in the first, eighth and ninth innings.

Sam Christopher led the Canaries with a home run and three RBI. Nick Gotta had three hits, while Tristan Michalczewski went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Matt Glasser scored twice and drew three walks, and Jace Henry added two RBI.

Carlos Pimentel earned the win for Sioux Falls after allowing four hits and one earned run in seven innings. He walked four and struck out four. Jason Maynard and Tyler Simms each worked one inning in relief.

Houston starter Matt Cronin took the loss after surrendering 10 hits and seven runs, six earned, in 3.1 innings. Lachlan Fontaine struck out five in 1.2 scoreless innings, while Connor Berry and Chandler Ingram completed the Apollos pitching effort.
