June 6 2021 The Sioux Falls Canaries defeated the Houston Apollos 16-7 after building an early lead and pulling away with an eight-run fifth inning. Sioux Falls collected 18 hits, while Houston finished with 12. The Canaries scored four runs in the third, added one in the fourth, eight in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Nick Gotta led Sioux Falls with two hits and five RBI, including a home run. Zach Gurwitz went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Tyler Michalczewski scored three runs and collected three hits and one RBI. Matt Glasser added two hits, two walks and one RBI, and both Matt Ebert and Will Ulrich scored twice.
Houston scored twice in the second, once in the fourth and four times in the eighth. Ian Yetsko hit a home run and drove in two runs, while Yeiler Peguero and Breland Almadova each recorded three hits. Hudson Bilodeau added two hits and two RBI for the Apollos.
Sioux Falls starter Ty Culbreth earned the win after allowing eight hits and three runs, two earned, in seven innings. He struck out six and walked three. Houston starter Yosmel Naranjo took the loss, surrendering eight hits and nine runs, seven earned, in 4.1 innings. Chris Hasty and Ryan Gordon completed the game for Sioux Falls.
