Houston Holds Off Sioux Falls 12-11

June 5 2021 The Houston Apollos defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries 12-11 in a high-scoring game at Sioux Falls Stadium. Houston collected 15 hits and overcame two errors, while Sioux Falls finished with 12 hits and two errors.

Houston broke open the game with a seven-run fourth inning, turning a 4-1 deficit into an 8-4 lead. Sioux Falls answered with four runs in the fifth to tie the game, but Houston regained the lead with a run in the inning. Both teams scored three times in the seventh, leaving the Apollos with the one-run victory.

Alvaro Gonzalez led Houston with two hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Hudson Bilodeau added two hits and three RBI, while Breland Almadova went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Sioux Falls received a two-hit, three-RBI performance from L. Landon, and M. Hart hit a home run and drove in two runs.

Matt Cronin earned the win after allowing four runs on six hits in three innings. Derrick Sylve recorded the save with a scoreless ninth, allowing no hits while striking out one. Sioux Falls starter Eddie Medina took the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings.
