June 1 2021 The Houston Apollos defeated the Cleburne Railroaders 6-4 after overcoming an early three-run deficit. Cleburne scored three times in the third inning, but Houston answered with one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the lead. Cleburne added a run in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.
Ramon Villa led Houston with two hits and two RBI. Brian Dansereau added two hits and two RBI while Ian Yetsko collected two hits including two doubles and drove in a run. Jordan Pontious had two hits, scored twice, drew a walk and stole a base. Houston finished with 10 hits and committed one error.
J. Nester hit a home run for Cleburne and drove in a run. Z. Nehrir and R. Hernandez each had two hits and an RBI while N. Vaughan also recorded two hits. The Railroaders totaled 10 hits and committed two errors.
Alex Merithew earned the win for Houston after allowing two hits and no runs while striking out five in 3.1 innings. Ryan Richardson recorded the save with one scoreless inning and two strikeouts. Michael Gunn took the loss for Cleburne after surrendering six runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings.
