Gary SouthShore RailCats Roll Past Houston Apollos 11-2

May 23 2021 The Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Houston Apollos 11-2 behind a 15-hit attack. Gary scored once in the first inning and added another run in the third before breaking the game open with an eight-run seventh. The RailCats added one more run in the eighth to complete the scoring.

N Vasic led Gary with three hits and two RBIs, while J Marriaga drove in three runs and D Lingua contributed two hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. B Andrews added two hits and an RBI, and R Jones scored twice while collecting two hits and an RBI. Vasic also hit two doubles, and Z Welz added one double.

Adam Heidenfelder earned the win after allowing three hits and no runs over four innings while striking out seven and walking one. J Alkire started for Gary and worked five innings, giving up five hits and two runs, neither earned, with two strikeouts. Houston starter Abdallah Aris allowed six hits and two runs, one earned, over five innings with five strikeouts before the RailCats seventh-inning surge.

Houston finished with eight hits and scored both of its runs in the fourth inning. Blake Berry had two hits and scored once, while Nick Anderson also collected two hits. Ian Yetsko supplied Houstons only RBI.
