July 18 2020 The Salina Stockade defeated the Houston Apollos 7-2 after breaking open a close game with a five-run seventh inning. Salina finished with 10 hits and no errors while Houston collected five hits and committed two errors.
Salina led 1-0 after the first inning and 2-0 after the second before Houston scored once in the third. The Apollos tied the game with another run in the seventh, but the Stockade answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take control.
S. Strong led Salina with three hits and two RBI. Jordan Dicks went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Eddie Grimaldo added a pinch-hit single and two RBI. Jared Gay doubled twice and scored two runs, and Khalyd Cox contributed a hit and an RBI.
Ben Butler earned the win for Salina after allowing no hits and one run over six innings. He walked five and struck out eight. Alex Clayton and K. Pierson combined to finish the game, with Pierson recording three strikeouts over 1.2 scoreless innings. Derrick Sylve took the loss for Houston after allowing two runs over five innings.
