Salina Stockade Cruise Past Houston Apollos 11-4

March 18 2020 The Salina Stockade defeated the Houston Apollos 11-4 after scoring in every inning of the six-inning game. Salina collected 12 hits and committed no errors, while Houston finished with 11 hits and one error.

Salina took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended the advantage to 4-1 with a two-run third. The Stockade added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth before breaking the game open with four runs in the sixth. Houston scored once in the third, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth.

D. Williams led Salina with three hits, two home runs, two runs and four RBI. M. Klement added two hits, including a triple, and scored twice, while R. Goldsmith went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. J. Cooley contributed a double and an RBI. For Houston, A. Rankin had three hits and an RBI, and A. Dunn went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Nicholas Ray earned the win for Salina, while Jordan Reid was charged with the loss. The Stockade’s 11 runs and 12 hits gave them control throughout the contest.
