The Apollos Alabama Luck finally had to come to an end. And it happened on the campus of Hoover High School in the Championship Game. The Apollos had the bases loaded with no outs and the score 9-8 in the bottom of the 8th inning. However Steve Royer hit into a home to first double play and Sonny Terrazas flew out leaving the Apollos down one run. They would never tie the game and St Pete won the game. St Pete's pitcher had already pitched a game earlier but he only walked one batter in 8 innings and after the first inning St Pete made no mistakes. Their hitters only struck out 3 times. In the first inning the Apollos jumped out to a 4-0 lead lead by a St Pete error. St Pete hammered the ball in the 2nd and 4th innings scoring 7 runs. The Apollos scored two in the 5th on Mike Wilson's two run homer. Sonny Terrazas hit a solo homer and Manny Lujan doubled and scored. Josh Krikstan ptiched 3 innings allowing 7 runs. Steven Alexander pitched 5 innings only allowing 2 runs. Mike Wilson pitched the ninth and was left in the on deck circle as the game ended. The Apollos played solid only walking 4 batters and stayed in the game with a very strong St Pete Team.
Game 4 Semifinal Apollos 11 Atlanta Bulls 4Mike Wilson pitched 8 innings only allowing 4 runs to give the Apollos the victory. Manny Lujan hit a two run homer and the Apollos scored several runs off Bulls walks errors and mistakes.
The Bulls won their opening game in the playoffs despite being down 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th with one out. The Apollos finally ended their rally.
Game 3 Apollos 7 Birmingham Steel 3Kyle Spangler threw 4 and 2/3 innings striking out 7 and only allowing one run. He also hit a very deep solo home run.
sonny Terrazas started the game going 3 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Terrazas had arm stiffness and did not return for the 4th inning.
Aaron attempted to pitch and three balls to the backstop before being removed. Andrew Dunn pitched to 5 hitters striking out one hitting three and giving up a hit. Kyle Spangler came on to strike out a batter and get a flyout to get the Apollos out of the jam.
Spangler remained in the game pitching 4 more innings allowing only one run. The Apollos scored 4 runs in the 2nd with hits and rbi's from Kevin Cosgriff, Roger Foyer, Andrew Dunn and Mike Wilson. The Apollos finished pool play at 3-0 and we get a first round bye in the playoffs.
Game 2 Apollos 12 Baton Rouge Titans 7Justin Loftin started and threw 3-1/3 innings allowing 5 runs, 7 hits. Alex Sample came on and pitched excellently out of the pen. He threw 3 2/3 innings striking out 5 allowing 2 runs to hold the game for the Apollos.
The Apollos were lead offensively by Andrew Dunn, Mike Wilson and Manny Lujan. Dunn reached base all 4 times and scored three runs with three hits and three steals. Mike Wilson hit a ball of the center field fence and Rickwood Field which is very far. It went for an inside the park home run however the umpire said it was a ground rule double. Wilson also had another double. Lujan Homered out of Rickwood and got a key two out double and reached base all 4 times.
Game 1 Apollos 14 Atlanta Generals 4The Apollos opening game in the 2007 Bama Bash came against the Atlanta Generals in a night game at Birmingham Southern. The Apollos sent seasoned tournament pitcher Josh Krikstan to the mound for the start against the Generals. He would respond by throwing 7 innings allowing only three runs on six hits. Alex Sample pitched one inning allowing one run looking good out of the pen. Offensively the Apollos they faced a submarine left hander who appeared to give them problems early. The Apollos jumped on the lefty in the third when he hit Andrew Dunn who stole Mike Wilson drove him in, Manny Lujan walked Anthony Covent reached on a strikeout. Tim Brown doubled plating two runners. Andrew Dunn had 2 hits, 3 steals and scored 4 runs. Mike Wilson had 4 hits and a grand slam with 7 rbi's the lead the Apollos. Manny Lujan reached base 4 of 5 times and scored three runs.
