Game 3 Houston Heat 6 Apollos 2 The Apollos got buried 5-0 in a 2nd inning scoring fest by the Heat and were never able to recover. Justin Loftin hit two batters and walked another and then gave up three hits surrendering 5 runs. Two close plays made the diffence, the umpire called a base runner safe that was out and a line drive hit just of reach of Andrew Dunn scoring two runs.
The Apollos scored two runs one on AJ Siggers double scoring Ryan Laverell and one on Andrew Dunn's single scoring Andrew Gay. They trailed 6-2 and had bases loaded with 0 outs in the bottom of 5th. Thomas Quinterro struck out, Derek David and Ryan Laverell were unable to get hits. Will Wade would have be up in Quinterro's spot but he was ejected earlier in the game for arguing a call. This ends the Apollos NBC Season in the single elimination tournament...
Game 2 Apollos 8 East Texas Blue Sox 0 Jon Scudder went three shutout innings before being pulled to be saved for later games. Josh Krikstian pitched 4 shutout innings with his knuckleball. The offense was lead by Ryan Laverell's home run, Derek David 3-4 with 2 rbi, Thomas Quinterro triple, Andrew Dunn double. Will Wade 4 hard hit balls 2-4.
Game 1 Apollos 5 Bossier City Cavaliers 4 The Apollos took a 4-0 lead in this one, lead by Will Wade's two rbi double and Jimmy Hardinbrook's bunt. The Cavaliers would battle back and tie the game. Ryan Laverell's bases loaded walk would be the winning run.
The Apollos had many key defensive plays to preserve the win. AJ Siggers ran down two balls in center field.Derek David had a ball hit sharply at him at third and he tagged out a baserunner that would have been the tieing run. Andrew Dunn played a ball off the left field fenced and threw out a runner on an attempted double with no outs. Ryan Poffenroth went 6 innings allowing 4 runs. Justin Loftin came on for the save in a very tight game.
Game 16 Apollos 5 Houston Heat 4 The Apollos finally hit the ball scoring 4 runs off Roy Oswalt's look a like in the first inning. Andrew Dunn, Reggie Veal, Derek David and Jimmy Hardinbrook all scored in the first. Leading 4-0 Ramsey Nino pitched 4 innings walking several left with a 4-1 lead. Michael Gilbert pitched the final three innings allowing 3 runs and escaped the last inning for a 5-4 win. Thomas Quinterro scored an insurance run and Andrew Dunn's bloop hit through drawn in infield that proved to be winner...
Game 15 Houston Heat 2 Apollos 1 The Apollos were short changed in this one by the first enforcement of time limit in team history. Paul Goodwin pitched escaping several jams including double plays and pick offs executed by Dave Dorner. Goodwin left with the bases loaded in the 5th with 1 out in a 1-1 game. Andrew Gay got a fly out and strike but one run would score. Gay homered for the Apollos only run. The Apollos failed to score in the first inning with 1st and 2nd and no outs.
Game 14 Apollos 5 Houston Heat 3 The Apollos scored 3 runs in the first inning lead by Ryan Laverell's double and a passed ball. The Heat would tie the game off Ryan Pofferoth. The Apollos struck in the bottom of the 5th with Andrew Dunn single and steal, then AJ Siggers bunt was thrown away scoring Dunn and putting Siggers on third, Siggers stole third and then scored. Jon Scudder then closed out the game not allowing a run.
Game 13 Houston Heat 3 Apollos 1 The Apollos blew their chance to get to .500 in this game. With the game tied 1-1 in bottom of 7th the Apollos loaded the bases with one out but AJ Siggers and Reggie failed to drive home the winning run. Justin Loftin pitched 7 -1/3 innings before being removed for Andrew Gay in the 8th. Andrew gave up a homer to the first batter he faced..The Apollos failed to score in the 8th and lost their second extra inning game. Game 12 League City Hornets 5 Apollos 2
The Apollos again failed every scoring opportunity. The Hornets got out of every jam with key strikeouts. The Apollos runs came on Andrew Dunn ricoche single of the pitchers rubber to score Reggie Veal... and Andrew Dunn walked stole 2nd, 3rd and then home on throw back to the pitcher.
Sonny Terrazas pitched all 7 innings giving up two home runs and 5 runs 4 of the runs were earned. Sonny kept the Apollos in the game...
Every player on the roster failed at the plate repeatedly, this is the first time in team history the Apollos have lost a series, losing 3 of 4 to the Hornets.
Game 11 League City Hornets 3 Apollos 2
The Apollos failed time and time again to drive in runners in scoring position and lost another one to the Hornets. Despite clearly out hitting the Hornets, the Apollos couldn't get a win...Ramsey Nino started pitched 4 innings dominating the Hornets but walked several batters and allowed a hit scoring two of them. He left in a 2-2 game Marcos Quinones pitched 3 innings allowing 1 run for the loss..Andrew Dunn walked and stole 2nd and 3rd and then scored on Bob Pfaff's RBI ground out in the first. AndrewGay scored after a single a steal and two pass balls.. That would be it for the Apollos they failed in every other opportunity.
Game 10 Apollos 7 League City Hornets 2 The Apollos finally broke out of their slump scoring 1 run in the first when Derek David doubled home Andrew Dunn then in the second the team broke lose scoring 5 runs. Hornets walked batters and Apollos were regularly stealing bases. Andrew Dunn and Josh Krikstain lead the scoring for the Apollos each scoring 2 runs. Paul Goodwin pitched 5 innings escaping all jams and relying on his off speed pitches to get him out of the jams. Jon Scudder came on the pitch the last two innings striking out 4 batters he pitched to..
Game 9 League City Hornets 3 Apollos 1 The Apollos hit very poorly scoring one run on a Marcos Quinones driving in Andrew Dunn on a groundout... The Apollos loaded the bases with one out and Quinones lined into a double play to end there only chance. Ryan Poffenroth took the loss allowing all 3 runs in one inning on back to back triples and back then back to back hits.
Game 8 Deer Park Cardinals 6 Apollos 5 Extra Innings Apollos lost a thriller to the Cardinals in the 9th inning. Burney struck again for the Cardinals with a three run homer and pitched three scoreless innings to beat the Apollos single handedly. The Apollos jumped to 1-0 lead quickly on a double steal by Josh Kirkstain/Andrew Dunn scoring Dunn. The Apollos got behind 2-1 on runs scored by walked batters.
Then the Apollos had a huge 4 run inning started by Andrew Gay's single, the rally was ignited by Jimmy Hardinbrook's perfectly placed bunt single. Both runners advanced on Wild pitch, Andrew Dunn doubled them home to give a 3-2 lead. Josh Krikstian was hit by a pitch and stole second, the throw went into the outfield scoring Dunn and reaching Krikstian to third, Derek Sacrificed him in with a fly ball to right giving a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning Michael Gilbert gave up a triple to lead off batter, Jimmy Hardinbrook made an error that scored a run and allowed a baserunner and the next batter flew out. Burney then homered tying the game. Glibert came back and didn't allow another baserunner in the next inning. Andrew Gay came on for extra inning relief. He escaped bases loaded no out in 7th, retired batters in the 8th, and got two outs in the ninth before allowing a game winning double to end the game..
Game 7 Apollos 7 Deer Park Cardinals 1
The Apollos came to play in their Gold Jerseys and scored quickly on Bob Pfaff's sacrifice fly in the first inning. Andrew Gay pulled the hidden ball trick to get a key out in the 5th inning and then hit a 3 rbi inside the park home run to seal the game in the top of the 6th. Paul Goodwin got the win, Justin Loftin the save in great pitching efforts...Bob Pfaff and Andrew Dunn had two hits.
Game 6 Apollos 5 Deer Park Cardinals 2 The Apollos finally got on track scoring runs in this game. Ramsey Nino pitched 5 innings allowing 2 runs (both to batters he walked) and controlled Cardinal hitters. Michael Gilbert pitched scoreless innings in relief for the save. Bob Pfaff reached on an error and scored on a Derek David groundout. Andrew Dunn reached on an error and scored on Quinones groundout. Derek David homered to give Apollos 3-2 lead. Reggie Veal and pinch runner Thomas Quinterro scored in the bottom of 6th on a double steal to give the Apollos a 5-2 win.. Defense was much improved.
Game 5 Deer Park Cardinals 7 Apollos 1 The Apollos were in this game for very short time. The Cardinals three hole batter (Burney) homered twice and the Cardinals made the most of every scoring opportunity. Ryan Poffenroth took the loss throwing 5 innings allowing 7 runs. Joseph Kantz pitched two scoreless innings. The Cardinals starter (Krebs) dominated Apollo hitters striking out 9 and escaped bases loaded no out allowing only one run. Marcos Quinones singled in the Apollos only run as Andrew Dunn was thrown out at the plate to end the only chance the Apollos had to score runs.
Game 4 Terror 6 Apollos 5 The Apollos completely gave this game away.
Bob Pfaff hit the first NBC Home Run with a bomb that cleared left center at the Sportsplex. Marcos Quinones hit a ball of the right center field fence scoring two. So Leading 5-1 going into the top of 6th inning, the Apollos completely fell apart. With Marcos Quinones pitching Josh Krikstain and Ryan Laverell let a pop fly fall in between them. Reggie Veal couldn't make a play on what would have been an inning ending fly ball in center. The Right fielder let a ball drop in that should have been routine. Then the Terror got a hit to make the score 6-5. In the bottom of the 6th which was declared the last inning the Terror walked the first two batters on 8 pitches, Josh Krikstian failed to get the bunt down then hit into a double play. Bob Pfaff ended the game with a hard hit ball at the third baseman. Mike Gilbert pitched 3 innings allowing 1 run, JT Thompson pitched to two batters allowing no runs, Marcos Quinones finished the game allowing 5 runs, all unearned..
Game 3 Apollos 6 Texas Terror 2 Paul Goodwin pitched 4 innings allowing two runs and escaping two jams and Justin Loftin pitched three scoreless innings for the Apollos in relief. Offensively the Apollos did most of the damage on walks and errors, in the 5th innings the Terror walked 4 batters and allowed three runs.
Game 2 Texas Terror 3 Apollos 2 The Apollos failed to hit Terror pitching as they could only manage two runs after surrendering 3 in the bottom of the first inning on errors. Jon Scudder pitched three innings for the loss.. Hamshire Fannett pitched three scoreless innings in relief Game 1 Apollos 14 Texas Terror 4 This was a 2-2 Game that the Apollos broke open with a 7 run 6th inning lead by Derek David and Andrew Gay. Ryan Pofferoff pitched all seven innings for the win.
